Analyst, Inventory Planning Strategy

Wayfair is looking for a driven analyst with strong attention-to-detail, a strategic mindset, and effective communication skills to join the Inventory Planning function. This team is at the forefront of building an innovative, scalable business strategy for Wayfair to support business growth of 3-4x. You will be part of a team that partners with suppliers to grow their business with Wayfair. You will develop insights to influence their product assortment, production, supply chain and operations. Other focus areas include financial analysis and decision-making related to inventory purchasing, managing excess inventory, promotional buys and improving overall inventory efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize sales, turns, in-stock rates, and network balance
  • Create replenishment orders reflective of supplier goals
  • Communicate with suppliers to ensure follow-through on replenishment orders and inventory commitments and to develop sustainable, long-term strategies to grow the business
  • Monitor key performance indicators and drive corrective action
  • Manage efficient inbound inventory flows and health, including forecasting, purchasing, and removing aged inventory
  • Drive root cause analysis/reporting on operational issues, developing action plans and project managing improvements
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and build advanced reporting using SQL and Excel to drive decisions
  • Align Wayfair teams (Operations, Promotions, Category Management, etc.) to ensure strong supplier execution and to understand and manage the demand drivers that impact growth
  • Support initiatives to drive improvements in the Inventory Planning systems, data, and processes

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or a Supply Chain/Operations discipline
  • 1-2 years of experience in operations, retail, engineering, consulting, strategy or finance preferred
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency with SQL (or a system of equal complexity) required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
