What you'll do...

Are you a hardcore numbers person who would enjoy solving some of business' toughest challenges by illuminating phenomena and opportunity held within one of the world's largest data sets ? As a Data Scientist at Walmart, the mammoth scale and volume of our global data is virtually limitless. You will create insights that influence how we make decisions that have impact at an unprecedented scale.

You will have the opportunity to do your best work while unlocking vast business opportunity by extracting key insights, using pattern recognition to develop predictive analytics, and translating results into goal-oriented business actions. Each day, you will be presented with a variety of new challenges and interesting projects that tap your interests and strengths. This isn't analyst work; you'll be leveraging data science methods, including AI and machine learning in an incredibly dynamic and engaging environment.

You'll make an impact by:
• Advising on analysis and modeling techniques, selecting the best fit for structured & unstructured, complex data, and developing custom analytics models to generate insights that drive value for our customers and unlock competitive advantage for our organization
• Collaborating with our data engineers to gather the right information from our various sources so that you can implement advanced statistical methodologies and design interventions to optimize how our business can best perform
• Conducting exploratory analysis including hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and statistical analysis (predictive and/or prescriptive)
• Partnering with business and technical stakeholders to translate challenging retail business problems into state-of-the-art data science solutions
• Developing processes and tools that monitor, analyze and continuously improve model performance and data accuracy

• You have proven ability as a full stack data scientist who develops, optimizes, and scales models for the production environment
• You connect the how and why, using your knowledge of data science theories and methodologies to derive the best approach that is fit-for-purpose
• You have a proven ability with statistical methods and advanced modelling techniques (e.g., SVM, Random Forest, Bayesian inference, graph models, NLP, Computer Vision, neural networks, etc.)
• You're experienced with languages used to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets (e.g. Python, R, SQL, etc.)
• You're proficient using database technologies and distributed datastores (e.g. SQL, NoSQL)
• You have experience with Spark, Hive and TensorFlow etc.

The salary wage range for this position is $136000 to $200000*

At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based incentive awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet. Health benefits include medical, vision and dental coverage. Financial benefits include 401(k), stock purchase and company-paid life insurance. Paid time off benefits include PTO (including sick leave), parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting. You will also receive PTO and/or PPTO that can be used for vacation, sick leave, holidays, or other purposes. The amount you receive depends on your job classification and length of employment. Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
