Hyper Converged Infrastructure Business Unit (HCIBU)

The Hyperconverged Infrastructure Business Unit (HCIBU) is growing with high double digits growth annually. Our solutions, HCI/vSAN are the cornerstones for the majority of Fortune 1000 in their Digital Transformation and Cloud journey.

We are seeking a senior team member with proven technical leadership to join a team developing the next generation control plane for Software Defined Storage. You will be playing a central role architecting and designing next generation storage management solution for abstracting, provisioning, and orchestrating data services, managing lifecycle in a distributed and virtualized enterprise and cloud provider environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership by driving architecture, design and develop major architecture components
  • Design and implement HCI management system to meet the reliability, performance and scalability requirements of the next generation of Software Defined Data Center.
  • Work with VMware kernel and vSphere teams to ensure that features work seamlessly end-to-end and maintain product extensibility and compatibility.
  • Influence other VMware development teams and partners to ensure the completeness of end-to-end functionality.
  • Help foster the culture of creativity and excellence through technical innovations and attention to quality and professionalism
  • Work with Quality Engineers and ensure software testability, quality and stability.
  • Work with the documentation team and ensure good quality documentation of the product and API.
  • C or C++ coding requirements.


Requirements:
  • BS or higher in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 3+ years required in a technical leadership position
  • 12+ years required overall technology experience in a software development related role, and a deep knowledge of software development methodologies including Agile
  • Excellent C (REQUIRED), C++, Python coding skills
  • Excellent system design and object-oriented design skills (REQUIRED)
  • Hands on experience with large-scale and distributed system, storage or networking management
  • Proven Domain expertise in virtualization, storage technologies, and availability/business continuity is highly desired
  • Ability to broadly influence and collaborate with a broad set of business, engineering and operation functions
