This engineer role provides an exciting opportunity to take the next step in your career. You'll be joining the Content Platform team for automating the onboarding of ISVs onto the VMware marketplace. The goal of this team is to build an engine that provides assurances that the software is compliant (security, licensing, etc. ) and will run as intended in different platforms.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Within your first three months:

  • Get familiar with the architecture, design patterns and development workflow.
  • Identify issues, resolve bugs and write high-quality engineering documentation.
  • Ability to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Develop new functionalities in the product using the Spring stack (Boot, Cloud, Data, etc).
  • Learn the Building, Packaging and Verification space and look to grow your expertise in this domain.
  • Get familiar with building and operating workloads on Kubernetes.

Within your first six months:

  • Be proficient with Git, CI/CD systems and workflows, and build tools such as Apache Maven.
  • Take ownership of a functional area of the product and build reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • Review high-availability topologies and consider security, performance and maintenance at any levels.
  • Work with engineering leads, PMs and our internal teams to coordinate quality audits and improve the tools and processes for the maintenance of the catalog.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Work directly with engineering teams for different areas of VMware Tanzu portfolio.
  • Be actively involved in team-wide discussions about software best practices.
  • Be a technical expert that coaches and trains junior members of the engineering team.
  • Keep the team unblocked by performing timely and useful code reviews.
  • Take responsibility for continuous improvements in the coding and development of your own coding practices as well as of your team's practices.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The hiring manager for this role is Beltran Rueda, R&D Sr Engineering Manager at the Marketplace team. Beltran believes in empowering Software engineers to do their best work, improve their own processes and tooling and focusing on the quality of the product.

This role is part of the Content Platform Team, which consists of 12 engineers located in the EU time zone, with additional roles currently open in Spain. You will initially be joining a team with a wide range of current responsibilities, working directly with users and customers, improving the test suite and the configurations focused on Kubernetes.

Where is this role located?

This role is fully remote across Spain, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. If you prefer to work in a VMware office in Seville, Barcelona or Madrid, that can also be set up.
