You will be working with a team of leading blockchain engineers dedicated to making VMware Blockchain the customer preferred Enterprise Blockchain solution. Many of the features we envision originate from academic research, so you will also be validating designs with world renowned members of the VMware Research Group. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Within 6 months: Establish in-depth understanding and hands-on experience in multiple areas of the Core Blockchain Platform (consensus algorithm, execution engine platform, enterprise blockchain operations). Design and implement at least one complex technical or functional enhancement of VMware Blockchain. Participate in architecture and design discussions with regards to the technological roadmap of the platform.
  • Within 12 months: At this point you are expected to have rich insights about the functionality, technological frameworks, and processes that underpin the VMware Blockchain product. This knowledge, combined with your extensive prior experience, enables you to lead major cross-component and cross-functional initiatives with substantial outcomes, in alignment with the product's architectural and business vision.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Design and lead the implementation of new capabilities for the consensus layer, smart contract integration and enterprise readiness of VMware Blockchain (upgrade, backup & restore, archive, etc.).
  • Contribute to the definition, and ensure alignment of the overall VMware Blockchain architecture for existing, as well as for new components
  • Provide mentorship for senior team members and oversee talent upbringing processes across the team (both in Bulgaria and globally)
  • Use your established expertise in networking, storage, or security/cryptography to build innovative blockchain core components
  • Collaborate effectively as part of cross-functional teams (system testing, deployment automation, DevOps)
  • Protect newly produced intellectual property with patents filed in the US and worldwide
  • Work with a global team in different geographical locations (Israel, India, Bulgaria)

  • The hiring manager for this role is Aseem Rastogi, Senior Director, Blockchain Engineering. He believes in hiring the best and giving them freedom and flexibility to make things happen. Where is this role located?
Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office.
