The Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service for CAP Providers, a critical element of the VMware Tanzu portfolio, is seeking an Engineer to help advance our mission of making TKG on CAP providers like CAPA (AWS), CAPV (vSphere) , CAPZ(Azure), etc,. as the best place to run Kubernetes. This team is focused on building Cluster and Infrastructure Lifecycle Management capabilities to deliver a Kubernetes as a service offering that allows their users to run general-purpose Kubernetes workloads.
What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?
We're seeking someone to join our Cluster API Provider team, which is responsible for the components which allow Kubernetes clusters to seamlessly integrate with the underlying infrastructure, spanning container registry, container storage, and container networking, and exposing hardware devices such as GPUs. Part of this team's charter is to surface differentiating capabilities, such as integration with the VM services / types to enable AI/ML workloads over GPUs.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
- Design and Implement Kubernetes infrastructure components
- Drive integrations with Tanzu Mission Control and underlying CAP provider services
- Participate in the upstream Cluster API community to represent Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service
- Provide feedback to peers through code and design reviews
- Work with Tanzu Portfolio products product management and architects to technically drive Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Service forward
What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The hiring manager for this role is Vijayakumar Arumuga Nadar, Sr. Engineering Manager. Vijayakumar joined VMware recently with the mission to bootstrap the TKG CAP provider team in India. He has 14+ Years of Industry experience and spent most of his time in R&D of different Products/Services in Virtualisation/Cloud/IaaS/SaaS/PaaS/Cloud Native Services.
CAP* Provider team in India will work closely with the Tanzu global upstream team and the global Kubernetes community.
Vijayakumar will work with you to set the direction, provide guidance, and remove impediments. He will expect you to be autonomous, innovative, and passionate to achieve the team's mission.
