Job Role and Responsibility

The Senior Manager, Transfer Pricing will be a member of our global tax team and will report to the Transfer Pricing Director. The primary role of this position is to focus on the operational aspect of transfer pricing while supporting various other transfer pricing projects as needed, including controversy, strategic planning, APA etc. You will interact with both members of the Tax team as well as other teams at VMware such as Finance, Accounting, Treasury, and Business. You'll be responsible for analyzing and setting arm's-length prices, calculating quarterly and year-end cross border charges, supporting documentation reports preparation, assisting with audits, analyzing business and planning strategies, and M&A integration. You should have strong data analytics skills and the ability to organize large volumes of data and identify automatization opportunities. You will also be coordinating and working with external tax advisors. Your responsibilities will include:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, calculate and book quarterly and year-end US management services, cost sharing allocation, and other intercompany charges
  • Analyze and prepare transfer pricing related tax deliverables to support quarterly and year-end tax provision
  • Support, review and advise on any corrective measures in relation to foreign subsidiaries quarterly transfer pricing calculations
  • Work with outside service providers to support the compliance of transfer pricing filing and documentation reports
  • Work with Director of Transfer Pricing to develop and maintain processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the company's pricing policies
  • Assist in issues related to tax filings, audits, APA and competent authority
  • Collaborate with functional teams on ad-hoc projects including key strategic and planning opportunities

Required Skills
  • 10-15 years or relevant work experience in transfer pricing (industry experience and accounting background preferred)
  • BA/BS degree or higher in finance, economics, and accounting preferred
  • Strong technical expertise in transfer pricing, including US and OECD transfer pricing guidelines and BEPS proposals
  • Advanced data analytics and financial modelling in excel and documentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills
  • People management experience
  • Strong practical, hand-on implementation skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and financial analysis skills

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred
  • International tax and ASC 740 experience
  • Experience with online tax and transfer pricing research tools
