Job Role & Responsibilities

Propel is a one year program that consists of two six-month waves (rotations) in different business units, with final placement upon completion. It is strategically designed to move talent into the most critical parts of the business where interests are aligned to opportunity.

Who is eligible to participate in Propel?

You can apply to the Propel Program if you're a current university student completing your final year of school (graduating December 2020 or Spring 2021). Those selected will begin in the Program upon their joining VMware.

We are hiring for the following teams:

Storage Applications, Networking Security, Cloud Platform, Cloud Native, Cloud Management Business Unit, Cloud Foundation, Office of the CTO

Required Skills (vary depending on role in R&D):
· Completing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
· Previous internship experience is a plus.
· Coursework in progress or completed in (some) of the following: storage and\or operating systems, computer architecture, compilers or networking, distributed systems, data mining, web development, user interface design.
· Knowledge in one or more of the following: C, Java or C++.
· Knowledge in Python, Perl, shell, or other scripting languages.
· Knowledge in Flex, HCI, wireframes, mockups
· Knowledge in CSS, HTML, XML, Flash, JavaScript

Preferred Skills:
· Experience developing client-server or distributed, multithreaded applications.
· Experience developing user space and kernel modules.
· School or industry projects involving significant design and development.
