Come join VMware's new exciting Modern Applications Business Unit (MAPBU) team, made up of products and services under the Tanzu portfolio to help customers build, run, manage and observe their most important applications. Our teams build cloud-native observability solutions that give our customers the confidence to run their applications and workloads and to achieve their business goals on our enterprise-grade Kubernetes platform. Our team specializes in observability solutions for applications and workloads running on Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry and we are looking for a leader to help us write new chapters in this great journey.
What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?
Leading this observability engineering team you will be responsible for creating a great culture and processes to drive engineering efficiency while focusing on the wellbeing and growth of engineers and teams.
You will be responsible for delivering observability solutions at high quality with focus on customer satisfaction.
You will be collaborating with your peers, product managers and other stakeholders.
You will be leading a great team of engineers solving complex observability problems, leveraging and contributing to open source solutions while maintaining positive atmosphere and a fun environment
Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Our observability solutions enable our customers to sleep at night knowing their platform is healthy and performant.
You will be leading a team executing against an ambitious plan of releasing a new observability solution in addition to continuing to execute support releases for existing ones..
You will be creating a culture of open communication, strong collaboration and efficient execution in a safe and fun environment..
What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Your primary responsibility will be to lead a strong engineering team. You will be fostering a culture of open communication, strong collaboration and efficient execution in a safe and fun environment.
You will be working closely with product managers and other stakeholder building plans to deliver great solutions in a competitive market.
You will be working closely with engineers, designers and managers, driving execution.
You will be working with the program leadership, presenting plans and reviewing execution.
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
The hiring manager for this role is Mayan Weiss, a Senior Director of Engineering. Mayan is a VMware veteran with vast experience leading engineering teams and monitoring solutions.
For the past 2.5 years he enjoys working in the great Wavefront team and now he is more excited than ever as we combine VMware's observability solutions under the power of VMware Tanzu umbrella creating a huge opportunity to make great things happen.
