This intern will work as a member of the Office of the CTO's High Performance Computing team to help understand and mitigate jitter introduced by the hypervisor at a cluster scale.

Insights into your role
  • You will study the sources of jitter on virtualized hardware and quantitatively evaluate their performance impact.
  • Minimize jitter via performance tuning with the goal of improving performance at the application level.
  • You will be responsible for documenting all the findings with supporting data.


Required SKills
  • Pursuing master or higher degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Solid and proven coding skills in Python or Java.
  • School projects or research experience in HPC (knowledge of MPI is a plus).
  • Expertise in performance benchmarking and tuning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, including commercial and open-source.


Preferred Skills
  • Familarity with OS kernel and CPU scheduling is a plus
  • Familarity with HPC technologies, including interconnect, storage and accelerators, is a plus.
