Job Role and Responsibility

VMware's R&D Operations and Central Services (ROCS) team is seeking a Director for our ROCS Release Management organization. Partnering with functional managers, in this role you will lead a team of technical program managers driving releases of VMware products and services and cross business unit programs, as well as engineers responsible for various BI and automation initiatives. You will partner closely with other leaders in ROCS and engineering, and collaborate with various teams outside of engineering such as support, business readiness, infosec, legal, etc. Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, shape strategy for scaling the RM team, and execute with strong business results are all essential to success of the role. In addition, you will also act as the Site leader for ROCS in India and represent ROCS in the cross BU leadership team for VMWare India .You will provide leadership to all functions of ROCS in India, help mentor the team members and grow their capabilities

Responsibilities include:
· Shape and implement overall strategy of scaling the technical program management function at VMware
· Define, implement and operate program plans and processes to drive expected business outcomes
· Lead your team to continuously automate, improve and document product and service development and release processes
· Deliver "RM guidance as a service" - a self service technical program management solution
· Drive implementation of various automation, data, reporting, dashboard initiatives
· Partner with engineering leadership and site leadership to determine business needs, prioritize development of various services, and provide metrics to measure success and determine improvement areas
· Grow relationships with site leaders and product teams on behalf of ROCS, represent ROCS and RM team in various site level initiatives

Required Skills
· BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
· MBA or equivalent experience a plus
· 10+ years of experience in product development, QA, and / or program management delivering enterprise software
· 5+ years of experience leading a team
· Firm sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end program lifecycle
· Ability to understand technical subjects and new technologies, and their relevance to the marketplace
· Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently in a dynamic environment
· Knowledge and experience with software development lifecycle and agile methodology
· Great attention to details and data-oriented personality
· Ability to influence without authority; partner with other functions
· Strong organizational skills
· Clear, articulate interpersonal and communication skills
· Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies (Jira, Confluence, MS Project, and MS Office)
· Experience managing application development and / or QA teams a plus
