What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

The Commercial Account Manager (CAM) is responsible for selling VMware's products and services via telephone, primarily by responding to high volume inbound and outbound calls. They are held accountable for prospecting opportunities, closing sales, and placing orders. VMware has a strong selling brand and reputation with I.T. customers. The CAM is at the forefront of delivering a positive customer experience using the VMware sales model while maximizing revenue and margin generation.

This role also affords the CAM the opportunity to deliver the VMware roadmap and journey, both verbally and visually, adding their particular nuance to better assist customers, and understand the broad breadth of solution offerings at their disposal. They will partner closely with other VMW resources (Solution Specialists, SEs, Channel Partners, etc.) to drive the VMware sales strategy.

CAMs cultivate long-term relationships across various levels of our customer's internal hierarchy in order to broaden the VMW footprint and allow our clients to become more agile and efficient against their most strategic corporate initiatives.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Within the first year, you will:

  • Have a solid grasp of VMware tools and procedures.
  • Be proficient in building new pipeline and progressing existing pipeline.
  • Have a thorough understanding and network built within the partner community.
  • Delivering consistently against pre-defined quota assignments.


What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Most of your time will be spent interacting on the phone with customers, partners and specialists. You can expect to be the main point of contact for all opportunities residing within your specific territory. Additionally, you'll attend necessary enablement sessions to broaden your understanding of the VMW solution set as well as how to best position our offerings to the customer's specific business needs, all while consistently delivering against pre-defined quarterly sales targets.
