Job Description

What's it all about?

Visa identifies and measures risk and develops strategies to manage and monitor the risk and aid achievement of business objectives. The Regulatory Risk team protects Visa by effectively managing supervisory relationships to deliver Supervisory Priorities, ensure appropriate risk governance oversight, and identify changes in regulatory environment to address as appropriate. The Regulatory Risk team supports Visa’s growth by ensuring strategic initiatives consider regulatory requirements.

As the Regulatory Risk Manager you will be responsible for maintaining the relationship with our supervisory and regulatory authorities in Europe, assist with the co-ordination of supervisory reviews, and engage with senior stakeholders internally to coordinate responses to regulatory requests and supervisory priorities.

What we expect from you day to day:

  • Manage the relationship with various supervisory authorities
  • Ensure timely and appropriate responses are provided to all regulatory requests
  • Liaise with senior stakeholders to assist in the delivery of supervisory priorities
  • Coordinate the schedule of supervisory meetings for senior executives with supervisory regulators, and prepare briefing materials  
  • working closely with members of the Board secretariat support preparation of briefing materials and co-ordinate meetings for Board directors with supervisory regulators.
  • Apply subject matter expertise to advise senior management of emerging regulatory risks, challenging where necessary and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor Incident Reporting to provide updates to the BoE, ECB and National Bank of Poland as mandated by the regulators
  • Build out the supervisory engagement model for European national supervisors ensuring appropriate level of regular interaction is maintained with the supervisory team
  • Working closely with Government Engagement and Legal, Regulatory and Compliance and other Risk teams teams on European regulatory issues requiring attention
  • Support Horizon scanning of the regulator landscape to develop and maintain knowledge of current and prospective regulatory framework affecting Visa in Europe
  • Support engagement on relevant internal audits and regulatory requests, ensuring satisfactory resolution of any audit findings and recommendations.

Additionally, you will be instrumental in:

  • Building strong relationships across Visa, including -  
    • Work closely across Risk Europe
    • Work closely with relevant Global Centers of Excellence
    • Work closely with other Visa Europe Functions
  • Working collaboratively across the business to help deliver key Business projects and initiatives
  • Working collaboratively with other departments in Risk Europe and Global Risk to:
    • Deliver the Risk Europe strategy
    • Support delivery of the Global Risk strategy
    • Deliver appropriate consistency in risk management
    • Deliver key projects and initiatives
  • Supporting training and sharing expertise with other colleagues in VEL and globally
  • By word and deed, being part of the Risk Europe culture.

Qualifications

What we're after... 

  • Experienced in dealing with regulators and good understanding of relevant regulation and governance processes
  • Knowledge and experience of risk management practices in financial services
  • Knowledge of the UK and wider European payments and / or financial services industry and the major trends affecting the regulatory, political and market environment, payment products and services, economic and competitive landscape, technology and the rising threat of data breaches
  • Track record in synthesizing complex information to produce impactful management information and analysis, and support informed executive decision making
  • Understanding of business strategy, clients and their evolving requirements
  • Proven ability to build credible-long term effective working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Experienced in preparing/reviewing/delivering executive level communications, both written and oral
  • Control / corporate functional experience (Finance, Risk & Regulatory, Legal, Compliance)
  • A trusted adviser who provides effective constructive and business-aware challenge
  • A strong team player with the ability to co-ordinate across multiple priorities, and build and maintain effective partnerships across the organisation
  • A questioning mind that proactively looks for pragmatic and innovative solutions
  • A results-orientated and highly-motivated person who functions well in a global organisation
  • Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills, including influencing and stakeholder management
  • Takes full ownership of assigned responsibilities, and driven to go beyond the minimum requirements, not a check-the-box mentality
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written), and desirable to be fluent in French or German

Additional Information

Flex Work Arrangement - Hybrid Position - This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in this role will be expected to work 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week from home.
