UX Designer, Growth


Virta is an online specialty medical clinic that reverses type 2 diabetes safely and sustainably without the risks, costs, or side effects of medications or surgery. Our innovations in nutritional biochemistry, data science and digital tools combined with our clinical  expertise are shifting the diabetes treatment paradigm from management to reversal. Our mission: reverse type 2 diabetes in 100 million people by 2025.

Virta is looking for a versatile designer looking to shape the experience for patients from the moment they discover Virta to when they become fully-fledged patients. Your closest collaborators will be product managers, marketers, as well other designers. This is a T shaped position. While design should be your core vertical stroke, we are looking for someone willing to contribute writing code. Extensive experience is not required, but willingness to learn is a must.


  • Previous projects and/or work demonstrated in an online portfolio
  • Must be comfortable taking a mockup and building actual page
  • At least 1 year designing for the web
  • Familiarity with mobile first, responsive web
  • Experience using vector based design tools
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles
  • Visual design skills including: color, typography, composition

Nice to Haves

  • Additional depth in engineering (modern JavaScript frameworks; consuming REST apis; version control)
  • Additional depth in design (user research, illustration, motion graphics)


  • Will work closely with designers and marketers to design flow and build out pages
  • Continuously tweak and iterate on experiences
  • Help both maintain and push the Virta brand

In your first 90 days

  • Work on improving the application and registration of new patients
  • Help build content that is both educational and  interactive
  • Build and design landing pages that help grow Virta
  • Participate in instrumenting acquisition funnels
  • Continuously improve the look and feel of our web-presence
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to drive decisions

Bryce works as a full-stack engineer on the Internal Tools Team, building software to help Virta’s clinicians and health coaches effectively treat patients. Outside of his team, he's helped build Virta culture by developing processes around interviewing and by organizing internal hackathons.

Neha S.

Engineering Lead

Neha leads engineering efforts around Virta’s patient-facing mobile and web applications. She facilitates cross-company communication, supports engineering productivity, and assists in the development of Virta’s technical and product roadmaps.
