Senior Editor, VICE.com
VICE.com is looking for a senior editor to join our online editorial team. The editor will be expected to commission articles from freelancers, write original pieces, as well as help with top edits. This person should be well versed in news and culture and have an insatiable drive for breaking stories and finding unique ways to talk about issues swirling around the internet on any given day. This is a fast-paced work environment; the ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining sky-high editorial standards is essential.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acting as an editorial resource for other members of the team
- Commissioning and editing from freelancers
- Writing original pieces when possible
- Generating story ideas
- Coordinating content ideas with the editor-in- chief and managing editor
- 4+ years experience as an editor at a notable publication or high-volume website covering news and/or culture
- Knowledge of the current global media environment and the VICE brand
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with all social media platforms, CMS, and Photoshop
