Chief of Staff

Venture for America is a nonprofit startup that recruits, selects, and trains highly talented recent college grads, places them at startups in emerging US cities for two years of hands-on experience, and provides them with access to the network and resources to become company builders and job creators. The Fellowship is highly selective, as is our team, and we’re looking for people who can jump in and make a huge impact.

We’re currently looking for someone to support our leadership team in a strategic capacity.  The Chief of Staff will prioritize and optimize our efforts by focusing on the highest-value meeting and activities. From serving as a stand-in in important meetings to supporting cross-functional collaboration across teams, this role serves a critical need in the organization. This is a great stretch opportunity for a high-achieving early career professional to work alongside an entrepreneurship thought leader and the founder of a national organization.

What you'll do: strategy/coordination (75%)

  • Manage and coordinate special projects and new initiatives of the organization
  • Serve as a liaison between the various departments at VFA, effectively balancing the needs of multiple groups of stakeholders
  • Write and speak with passion and purpose, projecting confidence and representing VFA with integrity
  • Support fundraising efforts by coordinating meetings and follow ups, researching foundations, and drafting pitch decks
  • Get to know and build relationships with VFA stakeholders
  • Serve as a filter, helping handle some of the communications and tasks of the leadership team
  • Contribute substantive ideas to new initiatives and collaborate well with others
  • Travel occasionally to VFA cities and accompany the CEO and Managing Director to meetings

What you'll do: administrative (25%)

  • Handle travel planning and logistics for everything from speaking engagements to press events
  • Effectively manage the CEO's calendar, which includes extensive travel and outside commitments
