Senior Legal Analyst - Intellectual Property

The Senior Legal Analyst assists Vanguard's Intellectual Property Legal team with securing and protecting Vanguard's intellectual property through trademark and domain name monitoring, acquisition, registration, maintenance and enforcement

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and management of Vanguard's global trademark portfolio, including filings, prosecution and maintenance, and interfacing with outside counsel
  • Assists with advising Vanguard's business units on trademark clearance, and the use and filing of new trademarks
  • Conducts US trademark search analysis and drafts clearance opinions
  • Reviews Vanguard's global brand watch reports for actionable trademark violations
  • Provides support on global brand protection, including TTAB oppositions and cancellation proceedings, international oppositions and enforcement actions, and the collection and preparation of supporting evidence
  • Monitors and manages Vanguard's domain name portfolio, including registrations, acquisitions, transfers, DNS modifications and renewals
  • Coordinates with Vanguard's Cyber Threat Intelligence Center and Fraud team in support of online brand enforcement
  • Supports brand enforcement actions, including assisting with research, cease and desist communications, UDRP filings, and the collection and preparation of supporting evidence
  • Assists with targeted IP training to Vanguard's US and International business units

Qualifications and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant professional trademark paralegal experience
  • Experience with U.S. and foreign trademark portfolio management, clearance, prosecution, oppositions and cancellations, maintenance and enforcement
  • Experience with domain name portfolio management and enforcement actions preferred
  • Excellent undergraduate academic credentials
