To provide expert level IT client business needs analysis of mainframe-, client/server-, Web-, and/or PC-based systems and to write IT documentation, including the system and software requirements. To assist the business lead with writing client documentation, including the acceptance test plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
This staff member completes the following activities under minimal direction:
- Provides expert level IT business needs analysis of applications/databases for mainframe-, client/server-, Web-, and/or PC-based software or middleware. Works on critical systems with the largest numbers of interfaces and users.
- Uses a variety of information gathering techniques (e.g., interviews) to determine system requirements and technology needs. Leads requirements gathering sessions. Maps work flows of internal client. Ensures project addresses business needs and IT issues, such as security. Identifies business assumptions and risks. Communicates technical issues at appropriate level for audience.
- Translates business needs into system and software requirements, and writes requirements documents. Ensures testable, discreet requirements statements can be used by the test team.
- Participates in Change Control Board activities to ensure system specifications are met, and to identify the risks and interface issues that may result from approval or rejection of changes. Coordinates submission of change management requests and verifies record assignment, tracking, and closure.
- Creates user interface design or coordinates activities with design team. Writes use case documents and requirements.
- Participates in Inspections and other client meetings throughout the project life cycle to identify issues. Leads brainstorming meetings with clients. Responds to functionality problems in a timely manner. Rapidly identifies potential solutions, including the cost/benefit of each option. Recommends solution to manager.
- Assists the business lead with writing client documentation, including the acceptance test plan and user procedures. Serves as backup tester for unit, systems, acceptance, and other tests. Assists the technical writer with reviewing user and technical documentation.
- Has a thorough understanding of client business functions, technology needs, tools, and other applications that interface with client systems. Helps develop the business criteria used to evaluate IT vendor products.
- Is highly functional on large, matrixed project teams. Interfaces with developers, database administrators, project manager, project management office, and client users.
- Provides project manager with realistic estimates. Trains and mentors staff with less experience. Resolves the most complex issues elevated from staff with less experience.
- Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels. Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Security policies and procedures. Verifies deliverables meet Information Security requirements.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience
- Eight years' BSA or systems analysis experience, including three years' technical writing experience, preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and interviewing skills
- Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Broad knowledge of the financial services industry

- Translation of business rules into computer logic, tables, on-line approvals, and maintenance schedules

- Thoroughly scoped functional requirements and documentation deliverables
