VP, Corporate Communications (B2B)

Gannett is looking for a talented Vice President of Corporate Communications to focus on B2B. This role supports the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Gannett by driving key B2B initiatives, business objectives and operational management across the platform.

This person will have experience developing strategic narratives, shaping messaging, leading external PR/communications agencies and building and empowering distributed teams.

While Gannett has been a media leader for over 100 years, we are undergoing a significant transformation from being a predominantly print newspaper company to one that is subscription-led and digitally focused. We are looking for a leader who will partner closely with our executive team members, marketing and branding teams, and investor relations to implement effective and impactful strategic communications.

Gannett highly values its people and developing the careers of its employees. This role will be responsible for a distributed team and ensuring team members' ongoing career growth. As such, we are looking for a leader who has strong managerial skills and a track record of developing talent.

Responsibilities include:

• Partner with SVP of Corporate Communications, strategy, marketing, branding and leaders across the company to drive impactful communications internally and externally.

• Support organizational and operational changes throughout the company with a goal of driving successful adoption of change. Act as a change agent who sees change as an opportunity.

• Prioritize, synthesize and coordinate information dissemination to ensure B2B communications are delivered on the right platforms, to the right audiences and at the right time while ensuring different functional and urgent company messages are not competing with one another.

• Ensure employee messaging is consistent to build commitment and engagement around the business strategy.

• Work to establish and continuously refine and reinforce the Gannett B2B narrative, with clear, compelling, and consistent messages to support the brand and corporate reputation.

• As a strategic advisor, ensure employees at all levels and types of roles within the organization are considered when communicating.

• Anticipate and proactively address communications issues, working with the corporate communications team to ensure effective and timely resolution. Help respond to crises as needed.

• Develop, coach, and support communications team members with standards, processes, and the right infrastructure to have the biggest possible impact.

• Support high-level business partnerships by providing strategic counsel and execution to help further awareness and credibility through new alliances.

• Measure and report on key metrics.

• Oversee production of employee events such as quarterly town halls, annual company employee awards and other events as needed.

• Oversee maintenance and content population of corporate external site, as well as intranet.

• Oversee senior leadership communications ensuring these communications are relevant, with appropriate voice and tone. Advise the company's executive management team regarding communications strategies and tactics. Provide recommendations for messaging and communications channels.

What we're looking for:

• 15+ years of significant experience in senior leadership roles leading communications/PR strategy and teams.

• You understand the world of journalism, product, corporate, consumer and enterprise communications and have demonstrated experience in developing strategies that deliver the objectives of each.

• You are comfortable taking story ideas from concept to launch - creating themes that can play through PR, social media, executive keynotes, general marketing, and internal messaging.

• You're a great connector - you'll bring the right partners to build on strategic communication directives and know who to approach for external support.

• Experience leading an external PR/Communications agency.

• You have a base of existing media industry connections and business relationships.

• A natural leader who can rally teams of all kinds and influence and work with a wide range of stakeholders, including the executive team, specialty leads, content/editorial, product teams, sales, customer service, email, marketing product design, growth, engineering, etc. to deliver on communications campaigns.

• Commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive working environment, ensuring your team is aligned with Gannett's mission to achieve gender, racial, and ethnic parity by 2025.

• You are an outcome and results-focused leader. You know how to prioritize strategy and goals for teams and rally everyone to focus on high-impact initiatives and goals.

• You have a reputation for being energetic, hungry, innovative, enthusiastic, humble, agile, and intellectually curious.

• Willingness to listen first, while maintaining the ability to act as a change agent and offer informed opinions and sound judgments.

• An exemplary performance record, outstanding judgment, and a proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, results-oriented environments.

• You have demonstrated to be a quick learner with keen intuition and strong initiative.

• You have incredible organizational skills, hustle and attention to detail.

• Ability to balance the big picture strategically, with getting the important things done in timely manner.

• Desire to work hard and have fun!
