The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal is looking for an energetic visual journalist who can cover the captivating stories happening in Lubbock and the South Plains/Panhandle of West Texas.

We're looking for someone who's comfortable shooting a Texas Tech football game one day and writing a short feature to accompany a photo package on another.

Do you respond quickly to breaking news? Can you tweet your best shot and video from the scene of a two-story fire? Can you give readers a short video clip of a player shooting the winning goal? How about a produced feature video? If you can, then this is the place for you.

Giving readers unique visuals with our other award-winning coverage extends across multiple platforms - print, online and social media. We value journalists' visual storytelling ability.

A wealth of online photo galleries gives our digital audience more chances to see the story as no one else can show it.

This digital journalist should expect to use all visual and interactive storytelling tools available at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Applicants must have at least three years of daily newspaper experience, with photos and video showing versatility of abilities. Experience with DSL cameras and iPhone video preferred.

You must be able to write accurate copy and captions. You must seek diverse sources and uphold journalistic ethics.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, a part of The USA TODAY Network, pays a competitive salary and offers excellent benefits.

Lubbock is a growing city of more than 250,000 people on the South Plains of West Texas surrounded by one of the country's largest agricultural regions. We're a booming sports market thanks to nationally ranked Power 5 athletics at Texas Tech and other successful college, university and high school sports programs. Lubbock also has a thriving restaurant and entertainment scene, with nationally recognized acts frequently stopping through the new Buddy Holly Hall and Texas Tech's United Supermarkets Arena.
