Trending p.m. reporter
The York Daily Record, a part of the USA Today NETWORK, seeks a digital journalist to cover hot topics and trending issues in central Pennsylvania. Social media drives this beat reporter as they monitor top platforms and channels. This reporter pounces on trending topics, bringing home the local, regional or statewide aspects of such stories. These stories are what the Facebook, Twitter and Reddit crowds are talking about. The ideal candidate will produce an entire package - story, photos, video, podcast, etc.- or tell the story on whichever platform fits. This journalist will use analytics, search engine optimization and other tools to really understand and target the right audiences. Reporter also has watchdog/in-depth ideas to pursue.
This beat, in addition, looks for social media engagement opportunities. This reporter often provides support back in the office for those out in the field, or heads out themselves to pursue stories and breaking news. Work days are Tuesday through Saturday.
