USA TODAY seeks a reporter-producer to craft stories of high value to our subscribers. The ideal candidate will thrive in an experimental role, learning what types of storytelling and topics are most important to our audiences on all platforms, pivoting to meet the need based on what we learn. The candidate will be an adept writer, comfortable producing files and working closely with graphics team to collaborate on visual stories. The job will require an understanding the lifecycle of a story and how audience builds relationships across different digital platforms including social media and newsletters in our fast-paced 24/7 news environment. As a part of USA TODAY's Universal team, the candidate will work closely with all sections in the newsroom and should be comfortable communicating with editors on other teams. The candidate must demonstrate strong news judgment and have prior digital news experience. The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of audience metrics, engagement tactics and search engine optimization. This role can include early morning, night and weekend work. Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree

• Prior reporting experience

• An understanding of digital and social metrics

• Excellent news judgment

• Top-notch writing and headline-writing skills

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent copy editing skills

• Experience managing social media for a daily news organization preferred, but not required

Minimum Salary: $55,000
