Sports News Clerk (part-time)

Enquirer Media in Cincinnati, OH, seeks a high school sports score taker to work part-time. High school score takers are responsible for taking and accurately transcribing scores over the phone for publication in print and online, gathering and compiling high school rosters, writing high school briefs and summaries on deadline, and gathering information for special sections. Score takers must work well both independently with minimal supervision, and in collaboration with others.
The general hours for this position are 5:00 p.m./6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m./11:00 p.m. weekdays; and 8:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, with slightly earlier hours during spring sports season. Are you able to work the weeknight, and Friday and Saturday hours listed here?
The score taker will be based in our downtown Cincinnati office and report to the preps planning editor.
- Knowledge of computers, telecommunication skills and area sports is a must.
- Write-ups are necessary, so at least some knowledge of journalism is required with at least a high school level of knowledge in writing/English.
- Other skills necessary are knowledge of Google Chrome; knowledge of SID Stats are preferred.
