Reporter, Life NOW

USA TODAY is seeking a nimble, competitive reporter to cover breaking and trending news across its Entertainment and Lifestyle verticals. We're looking for a team member who can react to developing or trending news in real time and write quick stories.
This is a fast-paced job, which requires urgency to get news out quickly and update as needed. This job includes curation but also requires strong writing as well as excellent news judgment and fact-checking skills.

Possibility of remote location or in offices in either NYC, McLean, Va., or Los Angeles

Responsibilities include:
• Spotting and writing high-interest items ahead of the competition.
• Optimizing your content, paying special attention to headlines, SEO and fields visible to social audience.
• Willingness to work a wide range of hours including nights and weekends.

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or any other subject from an accredited institution
• Experience covering news in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated strong competitive instincts and intellectual curiosity
• Proficiency in digital publishing, metrics and SEO best practices
