The Reporter for the Opelousas Daily World will cover news and events in St. Landry and surrounding parishes with
high potential to draw a digital audience. Types of stories will include a combination of newsy, quick-turn dailies and occasional watchdog enterprisers. Above all else, this person demonstrates a digital-first metabolism. He or she also must have a deep acquaintance with using social media to help content find its best audience, a willingness to let audience metrics drive his/her work, and a
facility for engaging regularly with news consumers.
He or she will create text and multimedia content with a mix of daily and quick-turn enterprise, alternative story formats, video and still photos. This reporter generally will prepare one to two daily stories; generate at least one enterprise stories each week; and produce at least three videos each week.
He or she also will optimize his/her content in the digital CMS, adding appropriate tagging, hyperlinks and links to related content. This reporter will promote his/her content and that of colleagues with the goal of growing audience by reaching out to communities of interest via social media.
