Humankind is agood-news brand launched by the USA TODAY NETWORK, the largest newspaper publisher in the country. There's enough bad newsout there, join Humankind in telling the country's most positive, uplifting stories.
We're looking for a natural-born storyteller, on air personality, and social media addict to join Humankind's team to help the positive news franchise write, produce and host stories about acts of kindness, out of the ordinary triumphs and special relationships.
If you are passionate about short, mid, and long form video content and can turn on feels at the drop of a hat through your storytelling and social savviness, we need you! The Humankind Producer/Host will work alongside Humankind's production staff to find, write, produce, and oftentimes host compelling videos about positive stories around themes such as acts of kindness, special relationships and triumphs.
The Producer/Host will find and pitch positive stories that align with the Humankind brands (Humankind, Militarykind, Animalkind, Sportskind, Womankind), reach out and conduct on camera video interviews, collect photo and video assets for each story, write text on screen or voice over scripts, produce videos alongside a video editor, optimize versions for different social platforms, write social language and collect metrics.
Hosting duties will include but are not limited to hosting long form episodes for our USA TODAY Connected TV channels, midform video content for social platforms like Snap Discover, Facebook and YouTube, and short form video content for social platforms like TikTok.
We are looking for a host that connects with our feel-good stories of kindness and compassion as well as engages and connects with audiences across platforms. We need someone with great energy, sincerity, and the ability to pivot to whatever comes next.
You should be excited to see the brand's content go viral and passionate about the success of the Humankind brand across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent communication skills, is quick to respond and receptive to feedback. The roles and responsibilities may also include social media channel management for any of the Humankind brands.
The ideal candidate MUST have writing, producing, and hosting experience with a digital brand and on social platforms. - Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years' experience as Writer/Producer.
- 2+ years of on camera hosting experience.
- 2+ years of social media producing experience.
- Editorial storytelling experience.
- Universal Skills and Traits Preferred.
- Excellent communications skills, online and in person, with the community and fellow journalists.
- Energetic, sincere, and vibrant on camera presence.
- Works collaboratively with a passionate and highly motivated team of videographers, reporters, editors and producers.
- Experience using After Effects,Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
- Working knowledge of the best types of videos for a variety of social media platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snap, Instagram.
