News - Reporter III

We are seeking a reporter to join our investigative team to focus on government malfeasance, private-sector accountability and other areas that he or she develops. The reporter must balance thorough, deep investigative projects with meaty watchdog and enterprise stories. Successful candidates can tell stories through relationships they build with sources, digging up key documents and analyzing data. The News Journal has a storied history of investigative journalism and offers the added bonus of impact. As the dominant content-provider in the state, what it publishes is taken seriously in the halls of government and often gets immediate results. This reporter should be comfortable using tools to present content across digital platforms in novel ways, including digital storytelling, video and other new tools. He or she will use metrics to understand what's resonating with readers and help shape coverage to steadily increase target audiences and impact.
