The USA TODAY NETWORK in Florida is hiring an investigative reporter with proven skills in data journalism interested in developing short- and long-term projects. This reporter also will provide coverage of major breaking news in South Florida, collaborate with local beat reporters across the state pursuing watchdog journalism, and at times work with a strong national investigative team. This investigative reporter works with a team of award-winning journalists generating investigative and watchdog stories across multiple digital platforms and printed newspapers in Florida and across the country, with an emphasis on reaching key new audiences and using multiple storytelling techniques. The Florida sites are: Naples, Fort Myers, Brevard, Tallahassee, Pensacola and Treasure Coast. The national network includes USA TODAY and more than 100 other newspapers across the country.

The journalist has strong data skills that elevate the reporting necessary to execute ambitious work, along with experience working with documents and sources. Experience developing projects and enterprise stories is preferred, so show us your best examples. The reporter, who will be based in South Florida, is a team player and is highly organized, self-motivated, capable of juggling daily and enterprise work, with an emphasis on exceptional time management skills, an eagerness to collaborate and a willingness to embrace coaching and editing. All work produced will be developed with the objective of delivering unique content for all our platforms.
