Part-time News Clerk
The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports reporting, an acute eye for detail, writes clearly and precisely, and thrives in a deadline driven environment. The sports clerk is responsible for taking game scores from coaches and other sources, compiling capsules for game roundups, routing phone calls and emails to the appropriate sports staff member, and other duties as assigned.
This position requires excellent organizational, writing and communications skills. The sports clerk must also have a sense of urgency to present the information with accuracy and speed, with an eye toward engaging and informing the reader.
The newsroom is a fast-paced, collaborative environment, and staff are expected to handle multiple assignments and transmit stories in real time for breaking news. This part-time position will require working nights and weekends.
