Neighborhood Issues Reporter

About the Job

The Courier & Press in Evansville, Indiana, is searching for a neighborhood issues reporter to join our newsroom and be part of USA TODAY NETWORK-Indiana.

Duties would include coverage of developing issues in local governments, business and culture as well as coverage of neighborhood issues impacting Owensboro, Kentucky. This reporter should have the ability to shoot and produce video, as well as write breaking news, features and enterprise. The applicant would need storytelling skills and the ability to cover a wide range of topics.

Additional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related discipline.

• Proven experience with advanced storytelling techniques on multiple platforms.

• A team player willing to step outside of their beat and comfort zone at a moment's notice for the good of the newsroom.

• Ability to be self-driven.

• Proven experience producing quick write-ups based on trending topics. Presents a quick, conversational writing style that resonates with mobile and social audiences.

• Proficiency on social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.

• Effective communicator; able to get along with diverse personalities.

• Able to multi-task and excel under intense deadline pressure in a rapidly changing industry.
