Material Handling Operator

The Pressroom is looking for a candidate to train as a warehouse material handler. The position is full-time shift work, which may include overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position assists in all operations of the warehouse at the Canal Ponds facility. These include, receiving and unloading newsprint and advertising materials; preparing newsprint for use in the reel room; collecting, sorting and weighing non-printed newsprint waste; baling recyclable waste and helping with department record keeping. This position requires knowledge of and compliance with published procedures associated with receiving, and handling pre-prints and sticky notes.

The successful candidate will be quality conscious, able to make quick decisions and react appropriately in a deadline driven environment and able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
W ork safely and comply with and participate in the mandated safety programs and initiatives.
Handle all materials safely and efficiently, causing no damage to the material or the facility.
Supp ort on-time production performance in press and packaging

Qualifications:

High school education or equivalent
Bas ic computer skills
Man ual dexterity
Good depth perception
Mathematical aptitude

Must have or be able to secure and maintain a license to drive a powered industrial truck.
