USA TODAY Network is looking for experienced investigative reporters with an eye for storytelling to produce short and long-term stories and projects.

We want reporters who can ask tough questions, who won't accept a 'no' when they're seeking answers and who can comb through reams of records and data and still make sense of what they find.

You'll need a keen sense of fairness and an understanding of how to build stories around real people.

You should be able to point to work that demonstrates these qualities.

You'll have an opportunity to craft a custom "beat" and build unique stories around an area of focus -- topics that tap into USA TODAY readers' passions, such as race, workplace inequity, poverty, technology or climate change.

You will work with the largest team of journalists in the U.S., with the nation as your subject. Our enterprise team is based across the country. This position can be based at our headquarters in McLean, VA, one of our local newsrooms or remotely under the right circumstances.

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or any other subject in a liberal arts field from an accredited institution.

• At least five years of experience as a reporter for a daily news media organization, including a proven track record of compelling enterprise and/or investigative work.
