The St. Cloud Times, part of Gannett Inc. and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is looking for a reporter who knows how to have fun and connect others to the great things in life!

You'll own coverage of the entertainment, craft beer and local food scenes, fine arts and things to do in and around the Greater St. Cloud area, a region that is actively investing in its entertainment venues and quality-of-life initiatives.

You'll also get the chance to do watchdog work as it relates to those beats (think restaurant inspections, liquor laws and ordinances, and what factors drive diversification of local dining, arts and entertainment options).

Our ideal candidate is positive, experimental and has the drive to get out of the office and into our communities. Excellent reporting, writing, photo and video skills and a strong social media voice are part of the package, as is a special focus on meeting the needs of early-career adults and families.

Join a digital-first newsroom in our new office in downtown St. Cloud. Your co-workers are dedicated fellow reporters, photographers and editors who are committed to experimentation, teamwork and serving our community. We have proven success in delivering nationally award-winning journalism, and we use audience metrics to help guide our coverage. We want to help make you better, and we want you to help us do the same.

Recent graduates and reporters with some experience and a willingness to relocate in or near the St. Cloud area should apply.

Qualifications:

  • Experience writing for an online/digital news website, newspaper or magazine
  • A strong writing voice that translates into compelling and entertaining reporting to engage an audience.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills; ability to deliver on deadline
  • Ability to report accurately and ethically in written words, on video and social media.
  • Good understanding of audience and community-building on social media.
  • Degree in journalism or similar area of study
  • This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.

Application Instructions:

We are eager to learn more about you! When you apply, don't limit your upload to a resume; show us what you've done. To do so, put together a single document file that includes the following, in this order:
  • Your updated resume, plus a cover letter that outlines why you are a fit and how you would approach the job
  • Links to 3-6 online samples of your work. Show us what you've written, produced, or had a hand in that best reflects what you can do in your desired role.

*It's important that these items be assembled into a single document, preferably in PDF format. The application will only allow one document upload. Completing these steps will ensure that you receive the highest consideration.

We offer a competitive base salary and career growth opportunities. We also offer you a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, paid time off, company paid holidays, employee discount programs and domestic partner benefits.
