We need a creative, hard-charging editor to oversee statewide coverage for the 18-paper USA TODAY Network - Florida. The ideal candidate will lead a team of journalists tasked with covering the state for our network papers, including leading our 2022 election coverage for nationally watched governor and Senate races. You will identify the coverage our readers need most and get it done, either by your own team of reporters or by coordinating with a team of hundreds of journalists throughout the state. You will help ensure we are drawing on all the talent in our network by coordinating a group of enterprise topics teams drawn from our member papers in such areas as growth and development, environment, health/COVID and race and inequality. The winning candidate will work in partnership with our capitol bureau that covers the Legislature and state government in Tallahassee, sharing resources and ideas to ensure that we are providing the best state coverage possible. Must have proven ability to guide and deliver sophisticated enterprise that drives digital subscriptions as well as handle fast-paced, competitive stories. The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable about databases and data-driven journalism. This senior level position reports to the Vice President of Content for the Florida Region and will be a linchpin of our success.
This editor could live and work from anywhere in Florida, including remote work or being attached to one of our network newsrooms.
