IndyStar is seeking an experienced editor to fill a key role in our newsroom. We're looking for an Enterprise Editor to supervise a talented group of reporters who cover a variety of important and audience-focused topics that make a difference in our readers' lives. This editor needs to have a track record of guiding stories with impact and a proven ability to help reporters spot and develop must-read stories. The editor should be a skilled leader who can work with reporters who are eager, passionate and excited about their work and build a team atmosphere from that structure.
This candidate will need to possess strong editing skills and able to help reporters produce storytelling at a high level, as well as smart explanatory stories and quick-turn watchdog work. At times the reporters will leap into big breaking news locally, statewide and nationally as we are part of USA Today Network. Candidate will need to be adept at leading that kind of coverage and working closely with our Breaking News team and at our local properties in the state and at more than 250 newsrooms across the country. As the Enterprise Editor, you will need to be an inspiring leader and a creative problem solver who values accuracy and knows that the best stories connect with people at a human level and show why the subject matters to them and the world around them. Candidates should also have an understanding of today's platforms and metrics.
