Editorial Page Editor, The Palm Beach Post
The Palm Beach Post, part of the USA Today Network - Florida, is looking for an Editorial Page Editor to run its award-winning Opinion Department.
This person will help shape the Post's opinion offerings through strongly reported and written editorials, and a variety of submitted columns from people in the community, as well as from state and national authors about topics of interest to our local audience.
This editor will welcome visits from community leaders to discuss policies and programs, and interview political candidates for potential endorsements in local, state and national elections.
The editor will act as an ambassador for the Post, keep a pulse on our vibrant, diverse community and find ways to expand the input from that community.
This editor will work closely with opinion colleagues at other USA Today Network - Florida newspapers collaborating on ideas and content, to leverage the strength of the Network.
The editor will be active on social media -- including Twitter and Facebook -- sharing local offerings and interacting with our engaged Digital readers, while also engaging with our loyal Print readers.
The editor will be comfortable in front of a camera, hosting Digital events and speaking to small or large groups, virtually and in person.
This editor must have a strong reporting and writing background and be able to quickly build an understanding of the complex issues facing our community; write important opinion pieces, manage letters to the editor and local op-eds.
Palm Beach County diverse county both geographically and demographically and demands an opinion leader with an open mind. It is vibrant both economically and socially with a unique culture, history and politics.
• Bachelor's in Communications, Journalism or related field or the equivalent in experience and education.
• Excellent and informed news judgment.
• At least 10 years of experience in reporting
• Preferred management experience.
• Experience with taking their own photos and videos, publishing independently in print and online and promoting content on social media.
• Interest in and experience in working with community members to learn about important issues and possibilities for solutions-oriented journalism
• Work with other editors and producers to optimize content
