The Arizona Republic and its website, azcentral.com, is seeking an experienced digital producer for the home-page team. The ideal candidate will be able to manage breaking news coverage and provide advanced editing, packaging and presentation across all platforms. A candidate should have excellent writing and copy-editing skills. The candidate must be detail-oriented and work well under pressure to meet demanding deadlines as well as demonstrate an understanding of audience metrics and SEO with the goal of growing audience. The candidate must have strong news judgment and the ability to handle multiple tasks in breaking-news situations.

This part-time position includes weekend shifts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing azcentral's native and social platforms, programming desktop and mobile, and understanding audience differences.
  • Directing and editing breaking news reporters in the absence of a breaking news editor.
  • Producing and publishing breaking news, optimizing stories for SEO and digital best practices.
  • Sending alerts when appropriate and promoting content through social media.
