The Abilene Reporter-News, part of Gannett and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is looking for an experienced reporter with breaking news and investigative skills who is energetic, curious and self-starting. This person will also be asked to manage the newsroom at times and serve as a Content Coach / Editor.

The Breaking News Reporter will work the traditional "cops beat" and "courts beat" but also emphasize watchdog reporting and contribute other stories as needed. This job requires video and photography skills.

Abilene is a growing city of about 120,000 situated on the eastern edge of West Texas, just over two hours from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is home to three private, church-related universities, Dyess Air Force Base and a variety of cultural activities. Interest in football is high and the cost of living is low. The Reporter-News is the oldest business in town, covering news and sports in the city and small towns in the surrounding area.
