USA TODAY's marketplace platforms group is looking for a back-end software developer to join our product team. We are currentlyfocused on new product developmentandtransformation of large existing businesses into digital firstventuresthat support our local news presence throughout the United States.
As a back-end software engineer , youwill play a key role in developing features for our websites and integrating into theAPI , building and deploying microservices. You will be working oninnovative, highly scalable web applications to bolster,grow and transform our existing business. You willbe responsible formaintainingand enhancing these sites while helping to develop new products.
As a back-end software engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Suggest and build new features intoapplicationsusingmodern technologies and frameworks
- Contribute to the team's ability to quicklydeliver high quality code
- Development ofhightraffic websites and restfulAPIs
- Troubleshoot operations issues asrequired
- Integrate internal as well as third-party web services and components
- Consistently follow and continue to help improve our processes including source control,deployment,and issue tracking
- Document solutions to institutionalize knowledge for the development, operational, support, and end user communities

Given the remote nature of our work environment, back -endsoftware engineers areexpected tobe comfortableworking remotely , attending video meetings, and collaborating using remote software. Minimumof five years of development and integration experience with web technologies .
- Bachelor's degree expected in a technical discipline or comparable experience
- Minimumof 5-7 years of web development and integration experience
- Experience with strongly typed programming languages
- Demonstrated development experience,consumingAPIs,and web services
