Audience Engagement Manager

The Cincinnati Enquirer , part of the USA TODAY NETWORK , is seeking an Audience Engagement Manager to join our team.

The ideal c and idate should have experience creating and optimizing visual content for social media , be able to effectively connect our journalism with audiences across social platforms and enjoy brainstorming creative ways to grow audiences on new and existing platforms.

This position works with a regional audience engagement team and manages The Enquirer's main br and ed accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social platforms. This position optimizes the distribution of our journalism on social platforms to attract and engage new audiences. It aims to build trust with our audience by curating a voice on each social platform that reflects the personalities and interests of Cincinnatians while remaining a reliable source for accurate and timely news updates. It also involves direct audience outreach and interaction on our story commenting platform.

This role focuses heavily on growing our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts and using those platforms to reach underserved audiences. Creating social graphics and audience engagement plans to reach audiences on emerging platforms will be a big priority in this role, as will using social media to drive subscriptions. Strong news judgement and customer service skills are essential.

C and idates should have some experience managing social media and be comfortable designing social graphics. Experience working on collaborative audience engagement projects is preferred. Knowledge of analytics tools such as CrowdTangle, Google Analytics, Parse.ly and social engagement insights is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Helps develop and carry out social media and audience engagement strategies
  • Creates platform-specific content, both standalone and as part of newsroom content packages
  • Owns social platforms, Coral comments, app store reviews, some user-generated content and any other platforms where users communicate with us.
  • Helps the newsroom identify opportunities for reaching audiences on various platforms across key topic areas.
  • Identifies opportunities on emerging platforms
  • Improves workflow and platform management
  • Tracks results and uses news judgement, metrics and audience data to make decisions
  • Provides customer service and answers audience questions
  • Leads initiatives to reach younger and underserved audiences on emerging social platforms.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing social media accounts for a news organization a plus.
  • Experience creating visual news graphics optimized for social
  • Experience working with Canva or similar graphic design tools.
  • Experience using social management tools such as Social News Desk.
  • Experience working with Instagram, Tik Tok or other emerging social platforms and features is a plus.
