Gannett is seeking an Agile Project Manager who will effectively and efficiently manage projects from planning to execution as he/she/they works to create and facilitate an agile development environment within the People Resources team.

The role is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all aspects of key human resources projects using Agile methodology, a strategy based on adapting to change, prompt delivery of outcomes, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong leadership abilities, facilitate team adoption of Agile principles, and have the desire to be part of an organization in transformation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Project Manage change initiatives using Agile methodology, such as sprints, scrums, modeling and iterations planning.

• Facilitate execution and tracking of human resources project portfolio, create timeline and sprint releases; build effective project dashboard to support time estimates, execution and transparency.

• Drive team iteration execution and communicate progress updates to People Resources leadership.

• Manage expectations for project deliverables and governance; hold teams accountable for their commitments.

• Manage project conflicts; escalate to leadership any risks or roadblocks to success and suggest remediation efforts to keep projects on track.

• Engage stakeholders within and outside of People Resources to ensure alignment with business objectives, focusing on prioritization of most critical needs.

• Educate key stakeholders regarding the use of Agile principles and how to effectively adapt to changing requirements.

• Promote empowerment of the project team, ensuring members are fully engaged and making meaningful contributions.

• Conduct post-mortem and root cause analysis to help teams continuously improve practices and ensure maximum productivity.

Experience and Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree required

• 2+ years project management experience using Agile Methodology; PMI-ACP® certification strongly preferred; prior experience in HR a plus

• Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills

• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to achieve results in a fast-paced, transformative culture

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a distributed team

• Experience utilizing project management tools and software

• Must be a self-starter who is organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
