Billing/Customer Service Specialist, Gannett (Entry Level)

The Billing/Customer Service Specialist (Accounting) is responsible for completing timely, efficiently, and accurately general finance tasks related to the business units within the hub. The Billing/Customer Service Specialist services the Regional Advertising Manager and business units as needed. The specialist will focus primarily on advertising accounts receivable tasks, advertising data entry in the advertising billing systems, assist the shared service centers, and provide excellent customer service to the advertising division at the business units. Accuracy, timeliness and strong customer service skills are requirements for success.


  • Reviews credit balances on customers advertising accounts, advertising billing tasks such as but not limited to; reviews charge backs, invoicing verification, account set-up, account reconciliation, compiles affidavits, advertising balancing
  • Open new accounts for advertising sales
  • Provides and maintains excellent customer service internal and external customers via phone and email
  • Develops relationships and provides support to the Regional A/R Manager and business unit personnel
  • Participates in various month end closing processes
  • Active participation during internal audits
  • Develops and maintains a relationship with shared service centers relating to specialist's expertise


  • High school degree required, college a plus
  • Demonstrated customer service
