Join us to help develop the next generation collaboration app that is central to Upwork's workplace and drives a major portion of revenue for the company. In this role, you will lead the development of a hybrid technology desktop application that blends a cross-platform UI with a native-OS core that runs seamlessly on Windows, Mac and Linux. You will use cutting edge and open source technologies for both frontend and backend including Single Page Application frameworks, node.js, C++, web services, and more. You will be a hands-on manager, have the opportunity to solve complex technical and product challenges, and contribute directly to the bottom-line of the company.
Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of talented engineers, both UI and backend.
  • Partner with product management, customer support, and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive the roadmap and crucial decisions.
  • Have an eye for anticipating technology needs and balancing them with the product roadmap.
  • Own end-end execution and success of the team.
What it takes to catch our eye:
  • 8+ years of developing cross-platform or full stack web applications.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Experience developing with one or more of the following: Java, C++, node.js, Angular/Backbone.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and high degree of organization.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and object-oriented programming skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, creative and collaborative environment.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
How to really knock our socks off:
  • Experience working with Electron, Chromium Embedded Framework, V8 Javascript engine.
