As a Senior Healthcare Economics Researcher in the OptumHealth Healthcare Economics & Actuarial Product Analytics organization, you will perform critical research and data analytics to measure the value of Optum's products and drive product effectiveness. Your role will include researching and investigating key business problems through quantitative analyses of healthcare utilization and medical cost data associated with home and community-based care capabilities. You will identify potential areas for program improvements by building statistical models, analyzing complex data, and interpreting and presenting findings. You'll work closely with business leaders and other researchers to develop innovative analytic solutions to help Optum fulfill its mission

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop study designs and apply statistical methods to evaluate economic and clinical performance of post-acute care management services
  • Identify data sources and deploy appropriate analytic techniques to meet objectives
  • Use data and analytics to provide insights into areas for program improvements
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, gain consensus on study methods, interpret and present analytic findings
  • Manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet non-negotiable deadlines
  • Anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health care administration, healthcare informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare research, public health research or health-related research analytics working with large data sets
  • Background in statistical modeling, evaluation methods and study methods such as logistic regression, predictive models, multivariate analysis, and linear models
  • Advanced level of proficiency with SAS programming
  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, etc

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in public health, health care administration, healthcare informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or related field
  • Excellent presentation skills and professional communication style (verbal and written)
  • Excellent time/project management and problem-solving skills
  • Critical thinking and the ability to proactively develop methods and approaches to analysis
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative to excel in a fast-paced environment and pivot priorities as business needs shift

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
