Positions in this function are accountable for delivering sustainable, financially sound solutions that solve a specific problem and enable successful external product delivery and/or internal business function performance, while driving adoption with internal business clients and define future capability direction that supports business strategy and new opportunities. Responsible for specific services, functions, and solutions available internally or as a supporting element of a product, typically not sold stand-alone externally. Positions in this function play a critical role in ability to deliver products to market and/or manage internal business functions. Capability management requires alignment to business and/or product strategy, effective design and development, and ongoing management of capability portfolio across the full lifecycle to ensure business-specific or cross-enterprise impact. Represent and cascade the vision and current scope definition to working teams. Support the prioritization of capabilities based on vision and scope. Lead generation of product design and experience requirements for capabilities. Leverage market insights to monitor trends and external landscape, and to inform capability strategies and customer use case scenarios

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive management and evolution of assigned capabilities
  • Sets team direction, resolves problems, and provides guidance to members of own team
  • Turnover capabilities to IT for feature elaboration and release planning
  • Manages to timelines and schedules of the product requirements
  • Sets team direction, resolves problems, and provides guidance to members of own team
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address business and operational challenges
  • Influences or provides input to forecasting and planning activities.
  • Product, service, or process decisions are most likely to impact multiple groups of employees and/or customers (internal or external).
  • Support generation of operational readiness considerations related to specific capabilities
  • Drive and facilitate stakeholder discussions to ensure requirements are captured and internal stakeholders are aligned
  • Obtain director and VP level approval of capability content
  • Turnover capabilities to IT for feature elaboration and release planning
  • Support the translation of capabilities to features and working product
  • Manages to timelines and schedules of the product requirements
  • Escalate concerns as appropriate

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience with healthcare, managed care and/or health insurance data analysis, business operations, or application development
  • Experience writing detailed requirements without ambiguity
  • Experience conducting research on business and user needs
  • Hands-on experience documenting process flow diagrams, e.g. in Visio
  • Knowledge of user experience best practice
  • Understanding of development methodologies

  • Proven self-motivated with a mindset of continuous learning
  • Proven excellent prioritization, organization, communication, and time management skills
  • Proven critical thinking and analytical skills

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
