Transportation Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for all transportation operations across North America, including implementation of all Procurement bids. This individual will lead network capacity planning as well as carrier and customer management and best practices across North America. S/he must drive accountability to pick-up and delivery of orders on time, in good quality condition, and deliver on budget across suppliers, factory, distribution, and retail locations. This role will business partner Customer Service, Procurement and Carriers to bring together network strategies that drive Logistics efficiencies and excellence.

Who you are and What You'll Do

Lead the transportation operations process for bid implementation and carrier management for execution across all segments of the Unilever network; inbound, primary and secondary transport.

Oversee and be the primary point of contact for bid implementation and end of period activities partnering with Procurement, Warehousing and Customer Service.

Ensure teams maintain process control, drive accountability to KPIs and drive continuous improvement for efficient processing and increased productive per FTE

Manage the flow of work to ensure coverage and properly serve the needs of Unilever's internal and external customers.

Coordinate transportation capacity plans and end of period excellence

Build relationships with internal departments and external partners to achieve business

and Customer Service goals

Lead day to day relationships with Carriers and manage overall carrier performance: including tender acceptance, on time, accessorial, claims, and end of period execution.

Manage Customer Service interface and improvement activities

Ensure reason codes are correctly assigned, losses analyzed, and corrective actions plans are executed to quickly address issues

Business partner Procurement to execute bid and timely action plan resolution

As a manager, a key responsibility is the development of the team

Provide coaching, mentoring and training to transportation leads and specialists

Provide project management support and process design input

What You'll Need To Succeed

Bachelors Degree

Work Experience: 3-5 years work experience with a clear competence in Logistics and Supply Chain.

Strong understanding of order to cash process, deployment, transportation

Strong verbal and written communication skills to influence business partners

Bias for action and ability to work in a challenging business environment

Preferred

Logistics Degree

Transportation experience

Special studies in Supply Chain related subjects

FMCG experience
