PAYROLL TAX ANALYST (Ultipro experience preferred)

Ultimate Software is currently seeking a Payroll Tax Analyst who will be responsible for analyzing and balancing our customer’s payroll tax liability with. This individual will also be responsible for resolving prior period variances and ensuring that the client Year-To Date information is accurate and balanced on a continuous basis. The qualified candidate will have strong customer service, payroll, payroll tax filing, SQL, & BI Cognos Reporting experience. This position will demand strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving expertise.

Primary Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Perform quarterly reconciliation and data analysis between tax liability W2/W3/T4/T4a/Rl1
  • Reconcile payroll taxes at the employee level
  • Tax Adjustment & Amendment knowledge
  • Perform tasks and reporting by SQL & BI Cognos
  • Play a lead role in Year-End processing for accurate W2, T4 & RL1
  • Communicate directly with tax jurisdictions as well as internal/external customers regarding tax inquiries
  • Research and resolve tax notices
  • Ensure that all tax related updates are fully tested and implemented in the payroll system
  • Perform internal audits as requested
  • Identify and resolve issues as well as drive change for related improvements
  • Operational subject matter expert and trainer

Requirements:

  • 5+ years working knowledge of US, US Territory, & Canadian multistate/multi-province payroll practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Ultipro
  • SQL & BI Cognos Report Creation capabilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all areas of employment tax processing (Tax Deposits, Return filing, Tax Notice, Adjustments/Amendments, etc…)
  • Customer transition and implementation
  • Track record of subject matter expertise skillset proven over multiple clients varying complexity
  • Proven Quarter – End and Year – End proficiency
  • Proven track record of client stabilization
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies on payroll taxation related inquiries
  • Knowledge of jurisdiction guidelines and the ability to interpret and explain employment tax laws
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Inpat/Expat tax and/or payroll processing preferred
  • Research and resolve tax items within a GL preferred
  • Tax Filing experience with Mergers & Acquisitions, Successor/Predecessor, Common Pay Master, and Common Pay Agent preferred
  • 3rd Party tax filing experience preferred
  • Set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision while maintaining organization
  • Quickly absorb, process, and apply knowledge to appropriately meet requirements
  • Detail oriented and poses a high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrated customer service and data entry skills
  • Effectively deal with the diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Communicate orally and in writing
  • Work independently as a member of a team
  • Manage multiple projects and fluctuating workload
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information

Education/Certification/License:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Accounting, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • FPC/CPP desired
