Network Engineer III

Network Engineer III with proven ability to implement and manage network infrastructure solutions.

The incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of technical infrastructure including but not limited to routers, switches, wireless controllers/access points, and WAN acceleration appliances. The ideal candidate must be able to work closely with architects, engineers, vendors, and customer-facing teams to build and maintain highly available production environments and coordinate the analysis and build-out of new office locations/expansions which will require coordination of hardware orders (network gear, server gear, rack gear, security gear, and voice gear) wiring layouts, vendor services and data center/IDFcloset configuration. A highly disciplined and methodical approach to all tasks is essential to the position. The incumbent is also expected to perform the essential duties with little or no supervision, anticipating and planning for all possible outcomes based on actions taken. This position requires hands-on, practical experience.

Possess a broad level of experience with technical administration. Must have strong organizational skills and problem-solving expertise, while working with current and emerging technologies. Must be able to manage very dynamic environments and have the ability to adapt quickly to technology changes at a moment’s notice to provide quick detailed solutions with little or no supervision.

Primary Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Responsible for building Ultimate Software’s data network infrastructure including but not limited to routers, switches, wireless controllers/access points, and WAN accelerators
  • Maintain and support all adds, moves, and changes to the environments
  • Builds data centers, MDF and IDF closets following standards, best practices and in a clean and professional manner
  • Accountable to provide sound problem determination and resolution, document methodologies, thorough knowledge of voice/data network management, execute hardware and software installations, and performance tuning and recovery
  • Manage & support multifaceted technical projects, new office setups and office rebuilds
  • Recommend technical solutions based on detailed vendor product analysis and best practices
  • Provide clear, consistent, and accurate documentation
  • Work is primarily performed between 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday-Friday with build responsibilities that require after hours and weekend work
  • Work on projects outside normal working hours

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to provide clear and consistent documentation with great attention for detail
  • Minimum of 6 years of networking support experience
  • Previous work experience following change management procedures
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Cisco hardware including Enterprise level Catalyst 4500, 6500 and 6800 series switches, Nexus Series switches, 1800 through 7200 and ASR series routers, and Palo Alto firewalls
  • CISCO based routing e.g. RIP, EIGRP, IGRP, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, route redistribution etc., and switching e.g. VLAN implementation, STP, VTP, Access lists, L3 Switching
  • LAN switching Internetworking to include VLANS, spanning tree, trunking, port aggregation, and segmentation as well as TCP/IP protocol stack
  • LAN/WAN router Internetworking and routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF and RIP
  • Firewalling techniques and concepts such as Natting and PAT, ACLs, TCP/UDP port usages, and VPN configurations
  • Installation and configuration of LAN, WAN and wireless networks with active components such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, access points
  • SAN/NAS networking, Fibre Channel Switches and protocols such as SCSI, FCP and FCoE
  • Expert experience with protocol analyzer and related network diagnostic tools for troubleshooting
  • Experience with load balancing strategies/ techniques, expertise in application switching / traffic management, knowledge of persistence and SSL certificates, experience with building and supporting dynamic failover environments
  • Extensive knowledge of network management platforms such as Cisco Prime and SolarWinds Orion
  • Experience with site-to-site and remote access VPN Internetworking’s
  • Strong knowledge and experience with network management systems and applications with deep understanding of SNMP and Microsoft Windows Internetworking and troubleshooting
  • Extensive experience with implementation and support of MPLS, Metro Ethernet networks or Metropolitan LANs
  • Expert experience in implementing and supporting fault tolerant highly available networks
  • Personal characteristics necessary for position are: teamwork, exceptional written & communication skills, self-motivated and capable of working effectively without supervision

Education/Certification/License:

  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE Routing/Switching and Wireless technical certifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree preferred or equivalent work experience

Travel Requirement:

  • Will be expected to Travel 50-75% analyzing new locations and coordinating hardware implementation
  • Will be required to travel outside of the US and will require a valid passport
