Marketing Writer

Ultimate Software is looking for an entry-level Marketing Writer who will develop B2B creative copy for our marketing programs. The Marketing Writer will work closely with other writers and marketing managers. They will have a main focus on writing, while also assisting with other areas of direct marketing and communications as needed. This role will report to the Senior Marketing Writer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write short- and long-form copy across media, including some display advertising, direct mail/direct response, email marketing, websites, thought leadership content, etc.
  • Create original, persuasive copy that promotes Ultimate Software’s products and services
  • Work closely with marketing stakeholders to implement creative strategies under supervision of a manager
  • Research for creative concepts and to stay on top of industry trends as needed
  • Work across a range of simultaneous projects while meeting deadlines
  • Updating existing content, as well as proofreading/editing for clarity, style consistency, spelling, and grammar
  • Translate sometimes complex concepts into clear, concise and reader-friendly copy
  • Provide feedback and contribute ideas to the creative process

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and have great attention to detail
  • Strong proofreading skills
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Knowledge of both AP and Chicago style
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work and collaborate across multiple teams
  • Knack for thinking of creative, out-of-the-box concepts when needed
  • Positive can-do attitude, openness to feedback and ability to take direction
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Ability to work independently without a lot of oversight

Education/Certification/License:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 1-2 years writing experience in a marketing team or agency (B2B preferred)
  • Candidate should be prepared to share writing samples upon request
