Business Process Management (BPM) systems Developer

Ultimate Software is looking for a BPM Developer to work as part of a team that will primarily focus on improving and automating business processes using BPM software. The position requires someone who is self-motivated, has a strong technical background, and possesses great communication skills. This position will work as part of a dedicated team focusing on BPM initiatives for Ultimate Software.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in research/design/implementation of new Business Processes Management System (BPMS)
  • Works as part of a team with Business Process Analysts and other Systems Analysts to build and support automated business processes using BPMS
  • Performs system maintenance and upgrades on BPMS
  • Responsible for all aspects of application and system administration for BPMS
  • Creates reports/queries as required to provide metrics to business users
  • Provides regular status updates to management and other team members
  • Influences and anticipates customer needs and requirements
  • Influences project scope to deliver effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Documents system design and configuration as needed
  • Requires minimal supervision on medium to large scale projects
  • Provides guidance to junior team members as required


  • Candidates should possess 7-10 years’ experience in technology related field – supporting, developing and/or integrating multiple systems
  • Java/.Net programming experience
  • Strong knowledge of SQL tools such as SQL management studio, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, etc…
  • Must possess ability to multitask, prioritize and work with multiple users and applications while maintaining a professional attitude
  • Must be willing and able to change direction during development as requirements and priorities change
  • Must possess strong understanding of the business processes behind the applications
  • Must be able to provide written technical guidance/documentation for all supported systems
  • Must have strong problem solving skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills across teams and levels of organization.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology
  • Experience with BPM Software (Appian, Pega, Tibco, etc…)
  • BPM Certification
  • Positive team player attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and willing to “do what it takes” to get the job done and learn new methodologies
  • Must show a desire to seek out solutions to problems rather than immediately ask for help
  • Good judgment and decision making abilities

Education/Certification/License: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred

Travel Requirement: Limited travel upon request
